Location: Canada and the United State of America

Size: Bison are up to 2 metres tall and weigh 900kg. Males are larger than females.

Life Span: 18 to 22 years

Current Status: over 100,000 live in parks and reserves

Habitat: prairies, and forests

Fast facts:

• eats grass leaves, bark, twigs and shrubs
• drinks water once a day
• will eat snow if water source is frozen
• able to cover large distances in a day
