Size: from about 5mm to 100mm

Location: species found world wide

Life span: approximately a year, however the dangers of being eaten before this time are high

Life cycle: from egg to nymph, up to 6 mouts before becoming an adult (can take up to 11 months)

Fast facts:

  • a nymph mouts up to 6 times before becoming an adult

  • their antennae has less than 30 segments

  • they can leap 20 times their body length

  • flies eat grasshopper eggs

  • the major predators are beetles, spiders, birds, rodents, reptiles

  • the are over ten thousand species of grasshoppers
