Location: Lions can be found in Africa and India.

Size: height 4 feet, length up to 1.8m females are smaller.

Life Span: 16 to 18 years, longer in captivity

Current Status: Asiatic lion is endangered, African lion is in decline.

Habitat: grasslands and open woodlands.

Fast facts:

• eats wildebeast, buffalo, zebra, antelope, giraffe, warthog
• can run at up to 80kph
• lives in a large group called a pride
• females do most of the hunting
• they are nocturnal
