Ultralight aircraft provide the pilot with the freedom of flight without the huge price tag. They can be packed up and put away in a garage. They can be easily transported around and assembled just before take off. Often pilots do not need to undergo the training pilots of much large aircraft are required to complete. Pilots enjoy the closeness to the elements that these aircraft provide. In many countries ultralights are only permitted to fly at low altitudes.
