Blimps

A blimp a huge motorized gas filled balloon. Today they are used as stable platforms for scientists and sports commentators. A blimp can hover almost noisily over the one location for long periods of time.

• TV blimps have a crew of up to 22 people
• if a blimp is holed the gas escapes so slowly that there is plenty of time for repairs
• dacron is used to construct blimps
• they usually fly at a little over 300 metres
• they travel at 80 km/h
